Every lesson, from first presentation to mastery.
Caret Classroom is a lesson and observation tracker for Montessori classrooms. Log a lesson in three taps. See where each child is at a glance, and how their work lines up with your state's early learning standards.
Piloting in Wisconsin Montessori classrooms this school year.
One shape for every child.
Each child's progress in an area is a triangle. Both sides grow down from the top point as lessons are presented and practiced. The base fills as work is mastered. The class triangle is the average of every child's.
Left side: presented
Fills as you give each lesson in the area. A re-presentation counts here until the child picks the work up again.
Right side: practicing
Fills as the child chooses the work on their own and repeats it.
Base: mastered
Fills when the child has the work. A mastered lesson also counts as presented and practiced.
One record. Two reports.
Guides in public Montessori programs teach from the Montessori sequence and report against state standards. Most tools make you keep both records by hand.
Caret Classroom links each lesson to the standards it gives evidence for. The lessons you already log count toward both, and the district gets a CSV export.
A trained guide confirms every link before it counts. Wisconsin's Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS) come first.
Demonstrates an understanding of numbers and counting.
From Number rods (mastered) and Spindle boxes (practicing)Understands concept that the alphabet represents the sounds of spoken language and the letters of written language.

Questions teachers ask
Does Caret Classroom use AI?
Two optional features do: voice notes and photo import use it to turn what you say or snap into records. Everything else is plain record-keeping. Nothing it fills in is saved until you approve it, recordings and photos are deleted afterward, and children's records are never used to train AI models.
Do children use the app?
No. Children never log in. It's a tool for the adults in the room.
Can I take my records with me?
Yes. Export everything to a spreadsheet, or delete your account and its records, any time.
